We are here to help you find the right programme to prepare you for a lifetime of ministry

BEGIN YOUR APPLICATION

Before applying for a degree programme at Westminster UK, we recommend that you speak to your pastor and the elders of your church, whose support and advice will be important through your years of study.

If your interest is in the Diploma in Biblical Studies, there is no need to apply; just follow this link and select ‘Create Account’.

If you’d like advice, or have a question that’s not covered here, get in touch by clicking the button below, and one of our team will help you.

  • Applicants are asked to submit:

    — A completed application form

    — A two to three-page spiritual autobiography

    — Three references: pastoral, academic, character-focussed

    — An Elders’ Affirmation Form (MDiv and BDiv applicants)

Applicants for the MDiv programme must hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Those who do not hold a prior degree may apply for the BDiv.

  • Students with relevant prior undergraduate or postgraduate experience, and in good standing at their previous institution, may apply to transfer to a Master’s programme with advanced standing. Applicants must submit an official transcript of the courses completed to at least a ‘C’ or 2:2 average.

  • We welcome applications from outside the UK.

Applicants for a degree programme without an English-medium undergraduate degree may be required to prove their proficiency in English by achieving a score of at least 85 in a TOEFL test or 6.5 in IELTS.

Residential students must comply with all applicable immigration/visa requirements and provide proof of funding. Our ASIC accreditation allows us to support applications for a 6-month short-term study visa in any twelve-month period; unfortunately we cannot presently offer Tier 4 visas.

A hybrid teaching model, which blends in-person and online teaching, allows us to accommodate students who need to study from their home country so long as they have the support and mentorship of a suitably qualified pastor. They must be willing to attend lessons in real-time, and to interact with their teachers.

A minimum of 10% of credits must be taken in person, and regular intensive teaching weeks will be scheduled to accommodate visits from students at a distance. Where possible we will provide accommodation with a host family. Westminster's premises are just twenty minutes from Newcastle International Airport, and a ten-minute walk from the train station.

  • Our fees are £205 per credit hour, which includes full access to Perlego's million-volume e-library. A full-time MDiv or BDiv student will expect to pay £6,355 per year; a part-time student, £4,236.

Through our internship programmes and sponsorship we aim to ensure that fees are not a barrier to any student, and that no one leaves having incurred a debt.

Please get in touch if you have an enquiry about our internship programme, tuition fee scholarship, or other fee-related question.

APPLYING FOR A DEGREE PROGRAMME

We invite you to contact us before applying for a degree programme, telling us a little about yourself and your interest in Westminster Seminary UK. We want to get to know you as an individual, and to give you the right advice. Suitable applicants will be invited to meet the registrar by video call or in person.

Applicants invited to proceed will be asked to submit the following documents:

  1. Our application form

  2. A spiritual autobiography telling us in a couple of pages how you came to Christ, why you are seeking theological study, and (if relevant) why you believe you are called to the ministry

  3. Three references, submitted online by people who know you well and are not family members. We ask for (a) a character reference, (b) an academic reference, and (c) your pastor’s reference

  4. An Elders’ Affirmation collectively signed by your church leaders (not required for an MAR degree)

Having submitted your papers you will be invited to interview by the Director, and if that interview is successful you will be interviewed by the President.
