OUR LOCATION
From August 2026, Westminster Seminary UK will be based in the historic city of Oxford
LIVING & STUDYING IN OXFORD
From September 2026 Westminster Seminary is to be based in Union House, St. Michaels St., Oxford, a location which offers theological heritage, faithful places of worship and world-class resources and infrastructure:
THEOLOGICAL HERITAGE
From Wycliffe in the 14th century to Wesley and Whitfield in the 18th, Oxford has a long and honourable association with men whose passion it was to preach Christ, and Him crucified. Oxford martyrs Latimer, Ridley and Cranmer were burned at the stake a stone’s throw from where the seminary is located; John Owen wrote from nearby Christ Church College.
It was in fact a volume of Owen, discovered in the dusty basement of the adjacent North Gate Hall by J.I. Packer in 1945, that launched the author’s lifelong love of the Puritans. We seek in such an atmosphere to prepare men to take the gospel to the ends of the earth in our own day.
PLACES OF WORSHIP
Westminster UK is committed to working closely with the churches our students belong to, so it’s important to us that Oxford and its environs is home to many faithful gospel fellowships. The adjacent North Gate Hall is home to Oxford Presbyterian Church; Oxford Inter-Collegiate Christian Union, OICCU, has been meeting there for sixty years.
RESOURCES AND INFRASTRUCTURE
In the heart of a premier university city, Union House is surrounded by extraordinary study facilities such as the world-famous Bodleian Libraries. We have the opportunity to host visits from Reformed theologians worldwide, and to learn from them. International students benefit from Heathrow Airport, which offers direct flights to 84 countries. Westminster UK has been graciously provided with a number of properties, in St Michaels Street and adjacent Ship Street. These are currently being refurbished to offer comfortable student accommodation.
