Westminster receives private library donations

We are very thankful to Revd Dr Geoff Thomas and the family of the late Revd John J Murray for the recent donation of their private libraries.

Their generous gifts mean that we are able to offer a growing number of excellent resources to our students, with our library now containing around 17,000 volumes.

It is a great honour to have received not only this gift, but also the trust of these men who are so greatly loved and respected within both Baptist and Presbyterian circles.

Revd. Dr Geoff Thomas was the Pastor of Alfred Place Baptist Church in Aberystwyth, Wales for over 50 years, during which time he preached through almost every verse in the Bible. Geoff contributes regularly to the Banner of Truth Trust website and is the author of several books as well as an international conference speaker. He holds the position of Visiting Professor of Historical Theology at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Geoff speaks each year at our annual conference, held here in Newcastle upon Tyne, and he lectures at our School of Theology.

The late Revd. John J Murray held pastorates in Oban and Edinburgh before serving as an elder in Knightswood Free Church of Scotland (Continuing), Glasgow, in the final years of his life. His many publications, including a biography of John Knox and a work on the resurgence of the Reformed faith in the UK, continue to shape the thinking and lives of many. His humility, wisdom and grace were greatly valued by those who knew him.

We give thanks for these generous gifts and pray that these resources would be of great use to equip men for service in God’s Kingdom.
