APPLICATION & FEES

We are here to help you find the right programme to prepare you for a lifetime of ministry

BEGIN YOUR APPLICATION

We welcome applicants whose readiness for theological training is affirmed by the leaders of their church.

If you’d like advice, or have a question that’s not covered here, get in touch via our enquiries page and one of the team will help you.

  • Applicants must present the following:

    — A completed application form, three references and an elder's recommendation

    — A 2–3 page spiritual autobiography.

    — A CV highlighting previous employment and education experience.

    — Transcripts of any previous university or seminary study.

Applicants for the MDiv programme must hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Those who do not hold a prior degree may apply for the BDiv.

Applicants who already hold a degree in theology may be admitted to the MDiv programme with advanced standing. This may also apply to students who have done relevant undergraduate or postgraduate work in other relevant disciplines.

  • Students enrolled in a theology degree at another institution may apply to transfer to our Master’s programmes with advanced standing. Applicants must submit an official transcript showing the courses they have completed, indicating at least a ‘C’ or 2:2 average. They must also be in good standing at their previous institution, and a statement of honourable dismissal may be required. Previous work will be evaluated for credit. No credit will be allowed for work that received less than a grade of ‘C’ or 2:2.

  • We welcome applications from outside the UK.

Applicants for a degree programme without an English-medium undergraduate degree may be required to prove their proficiency in English by achieving a score of at least 85 in a TOEFL test or 6.5 in IELTS.

Naturally, residential students must comply with all applicable immigration/visa requirements and provide proof of funding. Our ASIC accreditation allows us to support applications for a 6-month short-term study visa in any twelve-month period; unfortunately we cannot presently offer Tier 4 visas.

A hybrid teaching model, which blends in-person and online teaching, allows us to accommodate students who need to study from their home country where they have the support and mentorship of a suitably qualified pastor. We provide synchronous (real-time), interactive teaching for students at a distance, and simply ask that a minimum of 10% of credits be taken in person.

Westminster's premises are just twenty minutes from Newcastle International Airport, and a ten-minute walk from the train station. Regular intensive teaching weeks (June, August, January) are designed to accommodate visits from students, and wherever possible we provide accommodation with a host family.

  • Our fees are £205 per credit hour, which includes full access to Perlego's million-volume elibrary . A full-time MDiv or BDiv student will expect to pay £6,355 per year; a part-time student, £4,236.

Through our internship programmes and sponsorship we aim to ensure that fees are not a barrier to you studying with us. Please get in touch about our internship programmes, sponsorship, or for any other fee inquiries.
