Help us bring Reformed theological training back to the heart of England

In the land that birthed the Westminster Confession, fewer than forty Confessional Presbyterian churches remain. It is painful to contemplate the spiritual decline in the land of Tyndale, Owen, Bunyan, Henry, Whitefield, Spurgeon, Ryle, and countless other heroes.

But Christ himself tells us how to respond: Pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into his harvest!

Recognising in 2013 that for a hundred years England had been without a Confessional Presbyterian seminary, Dr Pipa, Dr Hamilton and Dr Schweitzer founded Westminster UK as an adjunct to Greenville Theological Seminary.  Under Dr Ian Hamilton’s recent presidency, the Lord has blessed the work, and this year trustees embarked on a search for a long-term home to accommodate its growing student body and provide them a residential cohort experience.

Throughout this process, we have seen the Lord graciously answer our prayers:

✓ Oxford Presbyterian Church has been able to offer Westminster UK premium office and teaching space opposite the University’s Student Union building, and next door to their historic North Gate Hall.

✓ In addition, four townhouses, dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, have also been offered to us on a 100-year lease at a peppercorn rent–on condition only that we refurbish them.

These buildings will provide housing for up to fifteen students during term time. Men preparing for gospel ministry will now be able to live and study alongside the seminary and among Oxford’s world-class theological libraries. During summer months the accommodation will serve visiting scholars and tourists, with income reinvested in student scholarships and theological training.

Property like this in central Oxford rarely comes on the open market; we see this as a remarkable instance of the providence of our gracious God.

Oxford—the city of Ridley, Latymer and Cranmer, Owen, Whitefield and Wesley—will once again send men out with the glorious gospel to the ends of the earth, but we need your generous support to make it happen.

  • Supporting students

Affordable housing in Oxford will remove one of the greatest barriers to theological study, allowing men to prepare for ministry without crippling financial strain. Excitingly, the addition of student housing within a stone’s throw of the seminary makes it possible for men to live and study alongside one another, ‘iron sharpening iron’.

  • Serving the Church

We trust that each Westminster graduate represents a future pastor or missionary who will faithfully preach and serve Christ’s people for decades to come.

  • Seeking the Kingdom

By training ministers locally and sending them globally, Westminster is helping to strengthen Reformed witness across the English-speaking world. It already enjoys close links with Reformed churches across Europe, strengthened by its annual European Colloquium.

Building a new home in Oxford, together

The estimated cost of refurbishing the first property is $650,000–$725,000.

By God’s grace and your generous support, we can provide a home for the training of gospel ministers in the heart of one of the world’s most influential cities for the next hundred years–or until Christ returns!

“We are humbled by what the Lord has already done and deeply grateful for longstanding friendships and spiritual investment in Westminster Seminary UK by churches across the UK and the US. Your partnership has encouraged us and sustained this ministry in profound ways.

We would be honoured if you would consider contributing toward the Oxford Student Accommodation Refurbishment Project. Together, we can help ensure that future generations of faithful pastors are trained to proclaim Christ and serve His church throughout the UK and beyond.”
