Tom

Tom is married to Becky, and they have a three-year old, Miriam. Tom grew up in a nominally Anglican home, was converted as a teenager, and since graduating in 2012 from Oxford University with a degree in music has spent nearly his entire adult life in student ministry with UCCF, the Christian Union movement, where he headed up their ministry to music students. However, Tom’s role involved more time on a computer than with people, and he increasingly felt the desire not only to share the gospel with those to whom he was ministering, but his whole life as well.

In the Lord’s kindness, an unexpected and providential opportunity opened for Tom to move with his family to Gloucester Evangelical Presbyterian Church (GEPC) and become an intern whilst studying for an MDiv with Westminster Seminary UK. At church he is involved in the ministry of Word and prayer (preaching at least once a month at GEPC, and often once elsewhere within the EPCEW denomination), and is using his musical gifts to aid the worship of the congregation. The rest of his work time is taken with study.

Tom’s long-term desire is to serve as a pastor of a local church, ideally—if the Lord wills—through church planting in Gloucestershire. He has a great desire to see Christ’s flock satisfyingly nourished on the whole counsel of God through faithful and engaging preaching and teaching, and to give himself to this alongside pastoral care. He is currently enjoying learning much from GEPC’s two co-pastors in how to shepherd God’s people well through seasons of trial and of blessing.

Tom is profoundly grateful to God for the opportunity to study at Westminster Seminary UK, for both the breadth and depth of the content, for the godly piety of the faculty, and for the generosity of all those who have made this financially possible for Tom whilst supporting his family.
