Tomi

My name is Tomi and I am currently training for pastoral ministry at Westminster Seminary. I was born in the south of England, raised in a Christian family and moved to Newcastle in 2017. Until recently, I have been working full time in retail, and studying at the seminary part time, while preaching occasionally at my church in Newcastle, All Saints Presbyterian Church. While I was more than prepared to make that sacrifice, it did begin to take its toll with the regular late nights of study and revision.

In God's providence, however, I began an internship at my church in November 2025, which has been a blessing and already a great help to my training. My internship involves my preaching about 2–3 times a month, fostering good relationships with the two universities in our city, and leading our students in Bible studies and fellowship. The experience of serving within the life of the church and studying at the seminary go hand in hand, as I put what I learn into practice, and I believe this method of training will serve me well in the long term. The added benefit is that I no longer need to stay up until unhealthy hours to get all my translations and readings done for my course, but these can be done throughout the days and the evenings.

I am grateful that Westminster Seminary allows and even encourages interning while studying. Lord-willing, I will continue to see fruit from this over the reminder of my time here at the Seminary.

After my studies, I would like to serve in pastoral ministry in the local church, wherever that might be in the UK.
